It will be held Thursday, Jan 19, 4:15 pm @ ANCS Middle Campus Library.

Two optional practice sessions will be held Jan 5 & 12 from 3:45-4:30 at the MC Library.

Reading Bowl Practice Begins in September

The Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl is a state-wide event that combines reading and trivia. Students read from the list of nominees for the 2017 Georgia Children’s Book Award Nominees. We will begin meeting in September to review books and begin our trivia research and practice. Our first meet is at the end of January against other APS schools. The top two teams then move on to Regionals at Clayton State University. This is our fifth year participating.

Team members are required to read at least 5 of the 20 books and compose trivia questions for practice.

Meetings begin in September on Mondays from 3:45-4:30.

Interested students should sign up in the library with Ms. Linahan.

Author/Illustrator Nathan Hale to Visit ANCS

We are excited to host author/illustrator Nathan Hale at the ANCS Elementary and Middle Campus on Thursday, September 1.

Mr. Hale will be talking to kids about the Hazardous Tales series, which he writes and illustrates. These popular graphic novels are based on events in American history and students in our library love them. Fun, informative and detailed, this award-winning series shines among the shelves.

Mr. Hale is also illustrator of a couple of other highly circulated books in our library, Rapunzel's Revenge and Calamity Jack.

USE THIS ORDER FORM to pre-order books for Nathan Hale to personalize and sign. Print, fill out, and return form with payment to Ms. Linahan in the library. These orders are done in conjunction with Little Shop of Stories, and ANCS will earn 20% of purchases as a fundraiser.

Contact Ms. Linahan at tlinahan@atlncs.org if you have any questions.

Welcome Back!

Welcome back to school, everyone! I am looking forward to a productive year in our lovely library/media center/learning commons.

Our media center hours for student access is from 8:00am-3:45pm.

Students may come to the library to read or work at the computers or tables from 8:00 to 8:25.

Students may access the library reading area, work at the tables or use computers during recess on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. If a class is in session during that time, a small group of quiet readers may be allowed access.

Students may utilize the library throughout the day with a pass or when accompanied by the class.

Please remember the library learning commons is our SCHOOL-WIDE CLASSROOM. At any time, students may be using the space for testing or teachers/visitors may be working. Always enter quietly.

Students may check out two books at a time for up to two weeks. The sign-out sheet and book return is at Ms. Linahan's new front desk. See the "Catalog" tab above to access the online catalog and search for books.

SEE YOU SOON!!
